Patients undergoing dental implant surgery and placement of veneers are now looking beyond their smile to improve the overall appearance of their face. There has been a growing trend in patients having Botox and Fillers after dental procedures to renew facial volume and have a more pleasing contour around the mouth to further enhance that new smile.
Fillers can help fill in facial lines and creases, resulting in a temporarily more youthful appearance. When injected below the skin, these fillers plump up wrinkled or sunken areas of the face and add fullness to the cheeks and lips. Specifically adding filler to the lips can further improve the appearance of your new smile. As fillers and quick fixes go, Botox is one of the best things around. It can have a profound effect on the face, especially on fine wrinkles. The nice thing about these cosmetic enhancements is they can be done during lunchtime and are great quick fixes to provide a more youthful, natural contour to your face.

Plastic surgery has always been a major topic of conversation at parties, but now with the first episode airing last night of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, we see one of the housewives visiting a plastic surgeon for fillers within the first 10 minutes of the episode. The housewives have all turned to plastic surgery in order to maintain the youthful Beverly Hills look. One of the housewives even disclosed she undergoes injections and procedures so her husband doesn’t move onto someone who appears younger. It is one thing to embrace cosmetic surgery to make you look and feel better, but looking plastic and unnatural should be left to reality TV shows .
Plastic surgery is an art and a science. In Change Your Looks, Change Your Life Quick Fixes and Cosmetic Solutions for Looking Younger, Feeling Healthier, and Living Better, I discuss how to choose a doctor. It goes without saying that from your surgeon you want brilliance, understanding, resourcefulness, great training, the best hands and eyes in the business, and a calming manner. But they should also have professional qualifications. No matter whom you pick, your doctor should have the proper certification and experience necessary to perform the procedures. You should expect your doctor to be more than just aware of, but positively fluent in, such recent and dramatic advances. Above all, your doctor should be board-certified. Will your doctor be able to handle complications during surgery or the healing process, should any arise? A board-certified plastic surgeon has had years of training in the handling and sculpting of skin tissue and its healing, and may be the doctor best equipped to handle the unexpected.
And while plastic surgery isn’t just about beauty, but also power you want to make subtle but important changes to your looks. In this economy it is a valuable, low-risk investment in your future health, happiness and well being. As Aristotle, the Greek philosopher said so many years ago: “Beauty is better than all letters of recommendation”.

Neck lipectomy with fat injections
Stem cells seem to be the wonder cell and for good reason. Originally used in the treatment of cancers and degenerative diseases, new applications in facial rejuvenation are now being recognized. While fat grafting for facial enhancement is not new, we are just now realizing the added benefit of this technique to provide stem cell rejuvenation to the face. As we age, our faces begin to show the effects of gravity, sun exposure, and years of facial muscle movement. The underlying tissues that keep our skin looking youthful begin to break down, often leaving laugh lines, smile lines and crow’s feet.
Stem cells have been known to come from blood vessels, but another surprising source of stem cells is actually our own fat. Body fat, the same tissue people spend time, money and energy to remove, has the power to heal and restore. The stem cells within fat explain why the skin of the face looks so much better after fat transfer. As a matter of fact, those of us doing a lot of fat grafting have been doing stem cell therapy for years. I often use a technique of fat grafting to provide natural, sculpted results for my patients. Injectable fat fillers can help fill out deep facial wrinkles and creases, providing a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. Also, lips that thin with age can be made plumper, and fine lines around the lips can be reduced with fillers. Schedule a consultation with me to discuss the best way for you to achieve glowing, even-toned, plumper skin.

Yesterday’s New York Times featured an article on non-surgical facelifts, which have actually been around for quite a few years and have become a frequent procedure in my office. As the article points out, these procedures use injected fillers to improve the appearance of the skin’s texture and contour. Typically made from hyaluronic acid or fat, injectable fillers can help fill out deep facial wrinkles, creases, and furrows, providing a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. Lips that thin with aging can be made plumper, and fine lines around the lips can be reduced with the new assortment of fillers. Topical creams (such as my Lip Enhancer) can give an immediate plumping effect. My Rewind Age-Defying Cream helps reduce fine lines around the lips. I also use Radiesse® and Sculptura® to plump, fill, and contour the face. With so many choices, it’s important to consult an expert to guide you for the best possible outcome.
