The unrelenting frigid weather we are experiencing continues to play havoc on our skin, so I am reposting some important winter skin tips: http://www.drmichellecopeland.com/blog/2010/12/08/.
Even if you are diligent about wearing gloves the hands are especially susceptible to becoming chapped which not only makes them feel rough, look old but makes them more prone to skin infections. Use the Daily Moisturizer with SPF-30 to make sure your hands get the same moisturizing and sunscreen protection as your face. So make sure to slather on (and then don’t forget your gloves too.)
Stay warm!

On Tuesday we discussed the effect of cold weather on skin and I promised some tips for the season’s other big assault on beauty: holiday parties. Of course we want to look our best but sometimes with all the stress and running around, we are not feeling it! As always, hydration is key. It’s typical to become dehydrated during the holiday season if you are attending parties where you’re exposed to dry air, smoke and any spirits you may enjoy. Drink plenty of water and avoid caffeinated beverages. Use moisturizer frequently and remember to first cleanse, tone, and exfoliate – now is not the time to skip any steps. A good regimen to follow is to use my Daily Cleanser, Daily Toner followed by AHA Face Cream and Daily Moisturizer.
Finally, focus on eyes and lips. Sleep deprivation and stress can lead to dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. There are many fine topical products with ingredients like argireline and biopeptide (or pentapeptide) that help reduce wrinkles and promote firming of these sensitive areas. To protect lips from chapping, use a good moisturizing product with high SPF protection. Lip enhancing products with argireline and pentapeptides reduce fine lines; and nicotinic acid and cinnamon provide immediate plumping to give your lips a fuller look. My three holiday season must-haves contain these ingredients and are formulated to show improvement immediately with long-lasting results when used on a regular and frequent basis: REWIND Eye Formula, Ageless Skin Undereye Concealer, and Lip Enhancer. Follow these steps to look your festive best!
On Monday I’ll have some last minute quick fixes in time to welcome the New Year…

Actress Demi Moore says she spends $100,000 a year on skin care to maintain her youthful appearance. She certainly looks wonderful, but today, it is possible for everyone to have beautiful skin and without spending a fortune. There’s a simple regimen I call The Beautiful Skin Workout (Eight Weeks to the Smoothest, Healthiest Skin of Your Life), which can not only undo skin injuries but also give your face and body the world-class luminescence you see in fashion magazines and television commercials. To get skin that’s radiant, fresh, and possibly better looking than it was ten or fifteen years ago, you need to put our largest organ on a “workout” routine.
The simple regimen starts your day with a Daily Cleanser that gently cleanses without clogging pores and leaves your skin silky and smooth. Next, condition the skin with a Daily Normalizing Toner, which restores the skin’s natural acid balance in a non-drying way. Rejuvenate the skin with AHA Face Cream, which is loaded with alpha hydroxyl acid and lipoic acid that helps reduce the appearance of tiny lines and wrinkles for healthy, glowing skin. The next step is to soften the skin with a Daily Moisturizer with SPF-30. Moisturizer promotes water absorption for naturally soft and supple skin and contains powerful antioxidants that don’t clog pores. Lastly, a Skin Hydrating Mist that contains highly purified water will maintain the moisture level of the skin and minimize signs of aging. Fast and easy, these simple steps will leave you with that youthful glow without emptying your wallet.

Style Apothecary reviewed my AHA Face Cream. Here’s what they had to say:
Just another in a long line of great and effective products from Dr. Michelle Copeland. I had pretty much stayed away from AHA creams after a bad experience with one that irritated the heck out of my face – it felt so sore and almost sunburned after using. So when I started with this AHA cream, I treaded lightly and only applied a small amount… I should have known I had no need to worry. What this does to my skin is like what an exfoliater would do – except without the beads. The cream just magically lifts off dead and lifeless skin leaving behind a fresh and glowing face that’s ready for moisturizer and makeup. I apply it liberally, and It takes mere seconds to absorb into my skin. The softness is incredible. The AHA cream has also allowed me to alternate my use of Retin A. I like so much what the cream is doing that I can switch off and get the same level of effectiveness. The AHA cream adds the added benefit of Vitamin A& E and Kojic Acid for brightening and evening your skintone. There is a product in Dr. Copeland’s line for everyone – no matter what your skin issues are, she has you covered. Highly recommend this product.
